Pastor Scott Stein was born and raised in Illinois, growing up in Kankakee, which is 60 miles south of Chicago.
He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed, and also attended St. Paul's school from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Pastor Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. Following college, he moved to Utah and began working as a structural engineer for Thiokol Corporation. For over 21 years, he was part of the engineering team for the Space Shuttle Booster Rockets!
He was a member of the well-known O-ring Task Force that recommended that the shuttle Challenger not be launched due to cold temperatures.After the Challenger Failure Investigation, he became supervisor of the Structural Application Section of Design Engineering, the group in charge of seal design and testing during the redesign of the boosters. In subsequent years, Pastor Scott served in various engineering management positiions as well as Chief Program Manager of Metal Hardware and Seals.
After 21 years in that exciting world, Pastor Scott answered God's call and left Utah so that he could attend seminary at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduation, Pastor Scott was called to be pastor at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he was ordained in July 2003.
Pastor Scott now heads up the exciting proposition of Christ The King Lutheran Chuch in Utah!
Pastor Scott's family includes his wife MarJean, a Utah native and their three children, who are grown and all live in Northern Utah. They also have a son-in-law, a grandson and a granddaughter in Utah. Yes, he's old enough to be a grandfather!
